What is the EXR Invitational? The EXR Invitational is a 5K race hosted by British Rowing and EXR. It brings the virtual indoor rowing community together to compete live at the British Rowing Indoor Championships. How to race at the EXR Invitational: Log into your EXR account to sign up for the EXR Invitational Qualifier events on the EXR website or in the app. Complete at least 1 of the 6 events. You can compete as often as you like. Your best time will be ranked on the leaderboard. On 10 November, the top 50 rowers will receive an email informing them about their qualification. Confirm your participation at the EXR Invitational until 16 November. On 7 December, race at the EXR Invitational in Birmingham! You can check your ranking at any time on the Qualifiers leaderboard, which displays the best times of all racers on the EXR website.

The British Rowing Indoor Championships will take place on Saturday, 6 December 2025 at the NEC, Birmingham. BRIC events and categories Saturday Individual events will be offered over 2,000m and 500m across categories for Open and Women’s, further subdivided into: Under 23 Open (open to anyone aged 18+) Lightweight Masters (aged 30+) age categories Junior, Adaptive and Para events are offered and will race over 2,000m, 4 minutes and 1 minute as follows: Para IAR 1-7 7 Further Junior categories offered will be as follows: Year 7: 2 minutes Year 8: 3 minutes Year 9: 4 minutes Year 10: 5 minutes Year 11: 6 minutes Sixth form: 2,000m Team Relays will be available to enter on Sunday Sunday Participants can enter one or multiple of Super Sprint Sunday’s challenges: 1-minute sprint 100m sprint 250m sprint 1000m The Chase What is The Chase? In The Chase, your challenge is to stay ahead of a pace boat that gradually speeds up every 20 seconds for 6 minutes. If the boat catches you, you’re out of the race and your result will be based on your distance covered. Your goal is to avoid the pace boat as long as possible, with final rankings based on maximum distance achieved. If you stay ahead of the pace boat for the full 6 minutes, the person with the furthest distance covered will win the gold medal! The following categories will be available for each challenge: Open/Female (aged 18+) Masters 1 (aged 30-59) Open/Female Masters 2 (aged 60+) Open/Female Adaptive Open/Female Junior 1 (aged 11-14) Open/Female Junior 2 (aged 15-18) Open/Female Team Pairs (aged 18+) – Available for the 1000m and The Chase Relay races will take place over: 4km for adults 8 minutes for Juniors and Adaptive
EVENTS Erg Sprints 2026 features the 2,000 meter events, 1/2 marathon and marathon, 20-minute junior and 30-minute open/masters rows, 500m sprints, relays, parent/child and kids races. As of 2023, Erg Sprints also features a C2 Triathlon, featuring bike, ski, and row. Find the full list of events on RegattaCentral. ENTRIES All competitors may participate in multiple events. ATHLETE CHECK-IN Doors open 7:00AM Saturday Jan. 31, 2026. Allow enough time for athlete check-in. At check-in, get your athlete registration card which you will need on the race floor. Don’t lose it! There is no on-site registration, however there will be a very limited number of “bullpen” seats for 2,000 meter events. LIGHTWEIGHT WEIGH-IN Athletes must check-in first and then proceed to the lightweight weigh-in adjacent to the race floor. You must weigh-in between 1 and 2 hours before your scheduled race time. In the case of open-weight events without a separate lightweight class, a rower is eligible to win a medal if they have weighed-in and there are two or more lightweights competing in that event. Those events are 30-minute, marathon, college freshman 2K and 500m sprint championships. There are no lightweight youth categories. WARM-UP & MARSHALING On race day, you’ll have access to a warm-up room featuring 80 ergs. Please be considerate of athletes in races before yours. Unless otherwise instructed, athletes will be escorted to a briefing and to the race floor by USRowing officials from the warm-up room 30 minutes prior to their event. LOCATION Alexandria City High School is located at 3330 King Street in Alexandria, VA 22302, just 5 miles south of Washington, D.C.

British Rowing will be hosting the inaugural British Rowing Club Leader Conference on Sunday, 1 February 2026 at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre, London Heathrow. We’ll be sharing updates and opportunities from British Rowing for all clubs, so please save the date to join us in February.
